The Spring Show will have trade stalls selling beekeeping supplies, so you can stock-up ready for the new season. We’ll also have a honey competition, teas and coffees on sale and space to eat if you want to bring along your own lunch.
Honey Competition
The honey competition is open to all HBKA members. If you’d like to enter, please bring along a jar of honey (any size between 8oz and 1lb) with no label and drop it off before 11am. The honey is judged by the attendees at the show according to which they like the best. We’ll be presenting the Frank Croll cup to the winner at 3.30pm.
AGM
We’ll be holding a short AGM at 11.30am. This will review the activities and accounts from the last year and also elect new Trustees and officers of the Exec Committee. The agenda for the meeting and the associated documents can be found here.

Sue has been keeping bees for 15 years Right from the start she was keen on entering her local honey show, and won her first 1st Prize for a Frame of Honey in 2007, and was then hooked! A chance opportunity to judge a local produce show (for jam) got her thinking about learning to be a Honey Show Judge Sue now judges around 8 Honey Shows each year. When Sue is not with her bees or judging honey shows she runs her own small Farm Shop near the Black Cat Roundabout, Roxton, Bedfordshire

Clive de Bruyn
Beekeeping Challenges- what bees have taught me in the last 50 years
Clive has been a beekeeper since the 1960’s. He is one of the best-known and respected beekeeping authorities in Britain and Ireland. Based in Essex, where he runs over 100 colonies for queen-rearing, honey production and pollination. He is a prominent member of the Bee Farmers’ Association, where he has been the Education Officer since 1982. As well as being a bee farmer Clive has studied, worked and presented papers within an international forum for many years and done much work in third world countries.
